My name is Valentina and today I would like to share with you a little bit about me, some of my accomplishments, experiences and future aspirations. I am just starting my last year of high school, but it is only my second year at St. Pius X, before coming to this school I went to Brookfield for two years. I lived in Montreal for two years previous to Ottawa and I was born in Colombia 17 years ago. Although Ottawa is home now and I don’t go to Colombia often I go to Mexico every summer to visit my best friend. Going to Mexico for the summer is the greatest experience every year because I learn new things and living without my mom, even for only a month or so, teaches me to be a little more independent.
During the school year I usually play volleyball at school and work at Tim Hortons, and I just started to work at Roots. At my old school, grade 9 and 10 I was a builder for the annually leadership camp, this was my favourite extra curricular activity because although it was a lot of work throughout the year, the weekend of camp it pays off. Seeing everyone have fun and become a better leader makes me happy and makes me feel accomplished.
After high school I want to do my undergrad in law and psychology and go to law school afterwards. I had the opportunity of doing co-op at a criminal law firm and this made me realize that being a lawyer is the thing I can see myself doing everyday for the rest of my life. It is a job that brings something new everyday and every case is different and I love that because I like change and get tired of doing the same thing everyday very quick.
I hope to get a different experience in this class, I hope to get a different prospective on what class is. I bring an open mind, willing to learn as much as possible about different aspects of school. I am very excited to work with you and help you as much as I possibly can.
